Mid-Week Man Candy

Woo Wednesday. I originally had intentions to make Matt Ryan this weeks hottie, but the powers that be decided there may have been Matt Ryan overload the past week (pssh, I severely doubt there is such a thing). So we stayed with an athlete ... and a footballer ...

Yay Steven Gerrard. You share the same birthday as one of founders of this here blog. I waited until after the Champions League Semi to post this for fear of cursing, but sadly, it wasn't enough as Liverpool fell to Chelsea. We love the way you score goals and, of course, you're not too bad to look at. Too bad you married a skanky WAG.

Hair trade

Well, the NFL Draft is over, and now I have to start the monthlong wait for my next favorite non-sporty sporting event, the National Spelling Bee.
I saw this picture today and just stared at it for about 15 minutes. Considering I spend the weeks leading up to the draft fascinated by Mel Kiper's hair and by Todd McShay in general, this picture really spoke to me.

Taken from The Sports Hernia blog.

And with the third pick ...

My love of Matt Ryan is no secret so I feel this needs no introduction.

Welcome to Atlanta...

I will be making a lot more trips home now ... : )

skitchkd (12:14:58 AM): its red and black
skitchkd (12:15:02 AM): it can fit into my wardroobe
ffiore957 (12:15:27 AM): way to justify buying a falcons jersey

It's contagious

The following are two parts of one of many AIM conversations (as you can tell by the timestamps) ... they are somewhat related so I made the executive decision to post them as one.

skitchkd (12:42:18 AM): well i haven't talked to you about being crazy anyways
skitchkd (12:42:21 AM): which is the point of the whole thing
ffiore957 (12:42:27 AM): exactly
skitchkd (12:42:32 AM): so go me
ffiore957 (12:42:34 AM): although that might make you even crazier
skitchkd (12:42:45 AM): i'm surprisingly fine actually
skitchkd (12:42:49 AM): i thought i'd be crazier
skitchkd (12:42:56 AM): haha
ffiore957 (12:43:04 AM): haha so did i

ffiore957 (1:00:11 AM): i think i caught crazy from you
skitchkd (1:00:35 AM): yea, i think its been inside you this whole time
ffiore957 (1:01:01 AM): maybe you're right

Putting the free education to use...

skitchkd (12:49:47 AM): so they [parents] brought my framed diplomas
skitchkd (12:49:54 AM): and its so weird to see two actual diplomas
ffiore957 (12:49:55 AM): how nice
skitchkd (12:49:55 AM): like
skitchkd (12:49:59 AM): 2 degrees

ffiore957 (12:50:08 AM): haha i know
skitchkd (12:50:44 AM): we are so awesome
ffiore957 (12:50:59 AM): well i'm not

skitchkd (12:53:54 AM): but a DUAL one
skitchkd (12:53:57 AM): i almost typed duel
skitchkd (12:54:02 AM): like they are fighting each other
ffiore957 (12:54:11 AM): haha that would be much cooler
skitchkd (12:54:41 AM): haha en garde art history, i am english, here to battle you
ffiore957 (12:54:51 AM): haha you're weird

Mid-Week Man Candy

So last week was a royal bust. We apologize right now to Ryan since obviously it was his being man candy (and not his poor choice of tailgate food) that got him eliminated from Top Chef. Our deepest apologizes. I'm sure Jess can find some way to make it up to you ...

Oh Floyd aka Jason Sudeikis of 30 Rock/SNL fame. He is the most adorable part of season one of 30 Rock (I would totally move to Cleveland for him, I don't know about you). We made a pilgrimmage to the Second City Theater at the Flamingo in Vegas just so I could take a picture with the adorable-ness (I blocked out his wife, FYI, see below). We are that hardcore. So here's to you Mr. Sudeikis. Come back to 30 Rock soon. Please.

Best. Video. Ever.

I think it's pretty clear why I (Katy) love this video as much as I do.

Jess says she is going to start posting more to counteract all the Matt Ryan posts I put up. I tell her it won't help.

At least we don't resort to this ...

Thank you, Deadspin.

How can I not love her?

ffiore957 (4:45:20 PM): if loving the bay city rollers is wrong, i don't want to be right

Just like Jacoby

ffiore957 (10:04:17 PM): i was just thinking yesterday that i love mormons
skitchkd (10:04:24 PM): that is really weird
ffiore957 (10:04:28 PM): i know
ffiore957 (10:04:33 PM): i think i was half-asleep

Mid-Week Man Candy

Ms. McClean is off gallivanting through Atlanta right now (Happy Birthday shout out to Mom McClean. You stay classy). So I will take the reigns and post this week's man candy (which is odd because she likes him WAY a lot more than I do ... oh well).

Oh yeah, Ryan from Top Chef. Your adorable taste in less than classic films (i.e. Dumb and Dumber) and your desire for someone else to go home is so endearing. If you would just slow your roll in the kitchen and calm down, you probably wouldn't use all the pomegranate juice and potentially ruin your team's dish. Just a little friendly advice. So keep on trucking. If Andrew can't make it all the way, maybe you can.

(P.S. Yes, I made the graphic in paint. Skillz.)

Opps. There may be a man candy curse.

Manny is a bum

skitchkd (5:38:12 PM): i really hate manny
skitchkd (5:38:17 PM): like with a firey passion deep in my soul
ffiore957 (5:38:25 PM): that's why we can't be friends
skitchkd (5:40:32 PM): i say that a lot
skitchkd (5:40:35 PM): and you still like me
ffiore957 (5:40:39 PM): not really
ffiore957 (5:40:45 PM): i like you less every time you say it
skitchkd (5:40:50 PM): i'm crying
ffiore957 (5:41:00 PM): well then be nice to manny
skitchkd (5:42:15 PM): manny doesn't deserve my niceties

Where would you go?

As I drove to softball practice this morning, Andy Gresh was discussing the top three sporting events that he has always wanted to go he. He'd been to a Kentucky Derby and a Super Bowl, but really wanted to go to the Masters. It got me thinking. I have been fortunate to experience a lot of awesome sporting events. I have been to a few Masters (saw Tiger's chip in at 16 a few years back, yes, the sickness) and even a British Open in Liverpool. I have been to the NLCS, plenty of UGA football games and even an NCAA tournament game. I asked my fair co-blogger about her top three and so we decided to share them with you.

(In no particular order)
Jess: World Cup, World Series, Summer Olympics
Katy: World Cup, either the Daytona 500/night race at Charlotte, Yankees v. Red Sox

skitchkd (4:28:41 PM): i mean a world series would be nice
skitchkd (4:28:50 PM): but it doesn't excite me as much as my other choices
ffiore957 (4:29:09 PM): what????
ffiore957 (4:29:13 PM): i don't even know you anymore

Clay Travis is genius

Clay Travis can do no wrong.

From the man himself:

I'm just shocked that Jay-Z hasn't emailed and offered a recording contract. I'm sick of being overlooked.

Kasey Kahne, birthday boy!

Feliz Cumpleanos to Kasey Kenneth Kahne, my favorite-ist NASCAR driver in the world. Today he turns 28 (doesn't look it, right? But who cares) and already he is already having a better season than last year. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a victory this year, but I will love him regardless of where he finishes in the standings. In honor of Kasey, I decided to post one of the best commercials from this year, but if you get bored and like to oogle Kasey, this is pretty amusing.

Mid-Week Man Candy

Happy Wednesday everyone! We all know what that means - MAN CANDY!! Woot!

Oh Matthew Stafford. Now that your INTs are down (thank god), our love for you is pure. You pretty fine for a 20 year old (that sounds slightly pervy but oh well). Your "look" from the Auburn game this year will be ingrained in our minds and hearts forever. Hopefully this year, you and Knowshon will lead us to the promised land of a No. 1 ranking and a national title. Even beating down Tebow again will be fine for me. And if not, there is always Talladega.

Let's go Yankees

ffiore957 (5:32:09 PM): did i tell you that i had to get a car wash because one of my hilarious coworkers wrote "go yankees" in the dirt on my car?
skitchkd (5:32:24 PM): i want to meet this fine human being
ffiore957 (5:32:38 PM): i didn't think it was very funny
ffiore957 (5:32:52 PM): but my car is very shiny now
skitchkd (5:33:02 PM): shiny bc of yankees awesomeness
ffiore957 (5:33:12 PM): not exactly

KD in Nerdland

So I (Katy) am nearing my one-year anniversary of living in the wonderful city of Washington, D.C. (or rather the D.C. area but that's splitting hairs). As a political science major and self-professed "nerd," nothing excites me more than living in the political epicenter of the country. People have begun to realize my nerdocity because they keep me informed about the nerdy, political goodness that is out there on the Net for people like myself.

From Mr. Gordon, Stuff Hill People Like and from my cohort on this wonderful blog, the ever popular Fantasy Congress.

Partake in the awesomeness.

What?

LOST has really redeemed itself this season from the crap that was last season. It's almost back in its old form. Thanks to Mr. Chris Lee for sending me that video. I was amused.

In other news, we have been discussing the number of hits we've been getting to our modest little blog, and thanks to all our fine readers out there, we are averaging around 75-100 page views a week. We are very flattered and love that you enjoy our little experiment here, but we'd like to know who exactly is reading/visiting. There are only so many times Jess and myself (and my mother) can read this site. So if you read this post or any of the posts, just leave us a comment so that we can properly thank everyone for their readership!

Happy Birthday, Clay

There are only a few minutes left in the actually day of birthday of one Clay Travis, but he still deserves a birthday post.

Oh Clay. It's hard to imagine that I used to live in a world where you and your wonderful column did not exist. It's been almost a year since I read "Dixieland Delight" (aka the book that best describes what it's like to follow SEC football aka the best way to fully understand why Katy goes crazy come football season). What a year it's been for you as well. An NFL combine. A lovely baby boy. Your column is pretty much the sh*t and I look forward to reading it every MWF. Oh and when you quote me in your column, you pretty much make my life. The end. So happy birthday, Mr. Travis. Keep on rocking.

Buy you a draaaaank

So thank you to Mr. Andrew Gordon for introducing me to the awesomeness that is Cute with Chris. This guy's deadpan delivery of today's radio hits is freaking hilarious.

skitchkd (7:15:01 PM): so if they have plus size modeling, why don't they have short sized modeling?
ffiore957 (7:15:35 PM): that is a very good question
skitchkd (7:15:44 PM): i would be an awesome short model
skitchkd (7:15:48 PM): i have a fierce walk
ffiore957 (7:16:05 PM): you should apply for antm

Mid-Week Man Candy

Happy Wednesday, Denny Hamlin. You earned this weeks man-a-licious spot due to your victory this past Sunday in the Goodys Cool Orange 500 just a mere 5 hours away from me in Martinsville, Va. And, of course, you are quite adorable (Jess really seems to think so). We love the way you drive the No. 11 FedEx Toyota (not the best Gibbs team member, but that is only my opinion). Your commercials are amusing and we love that you are a new addition to the AWESOME Gillette Young Guns. Go Denny Go.

Work innappropriate Gchat

ffiore957 (6:19:26 PM): yankees suck
skitchkd (6:19:30 PM): you suck
ffiore957 (6:19:40 PM): i love this witty banter

Throws strikes all the time

Yay for Opening Day! I know TECHNICALLY yesterday was opening day but neither of our teams played (damn, rain delays) so really today is opening day in my heart. Baseball is no college football, but there is something so simple and joyous about watching America's past time. I, of course, am convinced the Yankees will make a championship run (as I always do). I think it's common knowledge that one of my favorite players is New York Mets starter, John Maine. Rumor has it that when he was first called up, he lived out of a Marriott in the NYC area. I like to pretend we rendezvoused there ... in Katy Land. Anyways, in honor of baseball and John Maine, here is one of my fave YouTube videos to ring in the occasion.
